Help Berlin’s homeless with One Warm Winter
by James Glazebrook
How could we resist One Warm Winter? Not only does the Berlin initiative do the valuable work of collecting donations to buy clothes for the city’s homeless, but it’s also backed by celebrities. For its third year OWW, with its slogan of “Das Leben Ist Kein U-Bahnhof” (Life Is Not A Subway Station), has rallied German hip hop stars Marteria (an ex-model) and MC Fitti (anything but), one of the Beatsteaks, “theatre luminary” Komet and, um, that guy who’s sticking it to Bonnie Strange. And pictured below: the singer from Jennifer Rostock (Berlin’s answer to Paramore) and photographer Oliver Rath.
There are two easy ways you can help. Donate a Euro here, and Groupon will match it – doubling the first 2,000 donations. Or go down to the Friends with Benefits party at Bi Nuu this Friday, catch a performance by Mr ROFLCOPTER himself, MC Fitti, and sets from appox. a kazillion DJs – and your €10 entrance fee goes directly to the One Warm Winter campaign. If enough money is raised, 500 homeless Berliners will get jackets to keep them warm this winter. Here’s your chance to make Berlin a better place to live – get clicking/raving!
