I mean, just look at them. And that name \u2013 is it short for \u201coh, um, I shat myself\u201d? Not that I\u2019m complaining, because a touch of oddness usually helps when it comes to creating weird and wonderful music. Especially if you\u2019re a German trio experimenting with minimal rock n\u2019 roll sprinkled with Arabic influences.<\/p>\n<p>We like the Berlin band\u2019s own description best: \u201cA bit of Ricky Nelson with a moustache. Or Ian Curtis naked in Cairo, half past three in the morning.\u201d And we love Swiss producer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kalabrese.com\/\" onclick=\"javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http:\/\/www.kalabrese.com']);\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kalabrese\u2019s<\/a> remix of \u201cPower To The Women Of The Morning Shift&nbsp;\u201d, which sounds like the kind of idiosyncratic psycho disco that&nbsp;Andy Weatherall would use to kick off a set. But one took us totally by surprise as it still sounds like it was made yesterday;<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>the incredible debut album from <strong>65daysofstatic<\/strong>, <em>The Fall Of Math<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/s0.limitedrun.com\/images\/1064433\/65dos_Fall_of_Math_sleeve_12cm.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"650\"><\/p>\n<p>The Sheffield four piece* are commemorating in style this spring by playing the album in its entirety across Europe. And, as if that wasn\u2019t enough, they will follow this with a second set of songs selected from the remainder (math!) of their extensive discography. For like, a second\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On the pointed club crossover 12-inch in question <em>(Boys Don\u2019t Cry<\/em>), Smith balanced out its somewhat grotesque ambition by lampooning their early days: Included on the flipside were the slinking, original 1979 track \u201cPlastic Passion\u201d, the faltering pop\/punk stab \u201cPillbox Tales\u201d, and an in-studio disco joke, \u201cDo the Hansa\u201d. Recorded under the name Easy Cure in 1978, the last two tunes were leftovers from the group\u2019s first big break, a contract with Germany\u2019s then-largest independent label, Hansa, whose interest in the band proved superficial. Synthesizers are built from discarded scraps of metal and 90s nostalgia. Their performance, their visual art and their texts cull from the discarded fabrics of their surroundings, felt and reinterpreted through their bodies. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"Hyenaz\" href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/hyenaz\/\" onclick=\"javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http:\/\/soundcloud.com']);\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HYENAZ<\/a><\/span> are one, defiled and immaculate, their androgynous flesh quivering on the thin edge between the digital and the divine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For a glimpse at the HYENAZ universe, watch the video for \u201cCypher\u201d, in which a transgendered Pierrot morphs into a humanoid hyena.
