May Day in Berlin is frikkin awesome! Sure, there’s potential for radical violence, and the increased police presence can make Kreuzberg feel like a DMZ… but it’s still possible to politely party down with people who are standing up for what they believe in, or just making the most of a sunny day off in the best city in the world. This year, we avoided the crush around Oranienstraße, and opted for the at-times-still-a-bit-crushy surroundings of Görlitzer Park. We met some friends from London (the only people in these photos/Berlin not wearing black), chilled in Görli and I snapped some photos on my analogue camera. This was the first time I’d used a roll of Kodak Portra 800 and I’m loving how vibrant these prints came out!

Just found this via Finding Berlin’s Facebook Page: VICE’s live stream from Kreuzberg, the epicentre of this year’s May Day celebrations / demonstrations / riot:

The district is slowly waking up, but it should all kick off later this afternoon. If you can’t make it down to witness the action first-hand, stay tuned to watch it unfold live. If you’re unlucky enough to live outside of Germany, or freelance for foreign companies, and have to spend today *yawn* working, then you should at least be able to hear what the day sounded like, by checking out the audio uploaded to our SoundCloud group, Berlin Sound.

But now it’s Partei time. Bis später!
